St. Charles, Illinois - Stephen Wayne Griffitts

Stephen Wayne Griffitts, 81, of St. Charles, Illinois, died on Monday, May 18, 2026.

Stephen was born on January 26, 1945, to Wayne and Margaret (Kelly) Griffitts. He graduated from Union High School in 1963, earned a bachelor's degree in business from Western Illinois University, and later received a master's degree in finance from Northern Illinois University.

In high school, Stephen excelled in multiple sports, especially football and basketball, and received several scholarship offers in both. He played college basketball for two years. Sports reflected his athletic ability, competitive spirit, and strong work ethic. Later in life, he also enjoyed tennis and racquetball.

On October 16, 1965, Stephen married Josephine (Carlson) Griffitts in Oquawka, Illinois. Together, they built a life grounded in family, devotion, and love.

Stephen had a successful career in finance and business leadership. He began at S.W. Griffitts and Associates, where he consulted for small businesses, and later served as Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Manufacturing at Power Conversion Products. After retiring, he returned to work as Chief Financial Officer of Scope Services.

Above all, Stephen loved his family. He took great pride in caring for and providing for those he loved, spending time with his children and grandchildren, cheering at their sporting events, and enjoying summer family vacations in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

Stephen is survived by his beloved wife, Jody; his children, Kelly Griffitts (Marge) and their children, Grant and Aydan; Stephani Jones (Cory), and their children, Kayla, Austin, and Ashley; Gregory Griffitts; Lesley Vernald (Nicholas), and their children, Luke, Lila, and Naomi; Lindsey Wagner (Dustin), and their children, Elle, Greyson, and Brody; and his sister, Kathleen Brown (Jerry).

Stephen will be remembered for his devotion to family, his strong work ethic, and the generous love and care he shared throughout his life.
