Peggy Jurgensen
Peggy Jurgensen, 83, passed away suddenly on November 25, 2025, at her home in Elgin, with her loving husband by her side. She battled complications from cancer until the very end.
She is survived by her husband, Alan, of 41 years; her daughter, Treva (Scott) Nebel; 2 grandchildren, Ryan and Tyler; and brother, Joe (Kathy) Mitchell.
Peggy attended Galacia High School and was a member of the cheerleading squad. She earned her Bachelor's Degree from Southern Illinois University and Master's Degree from Concordia College. Following graduation from SIU, she accepted a job at Bartlett Elementary School, teaching second graders for 33.5 years.
Peggy was a recipient of the Elgin Area Retired Teacher of the Year award in 2006. She was also a past President of the Elgin Retired Teachers Association.
Peggy's many friends will remember her kindness, sweet personality, and joy in dancing. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, and enjoyed relaxing at the cabin in Wisconsin and condo in Florida.
At Peggy's request, there will be no formal services. Cremation rights have been accorded, and interment will be private.
