Lorraine Bruck Cornelius
Lorraine Bruck Cornelius, 99, of Elmhurst, Illinois, passed away on November 4, 2025. She was born on January 26, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois, to Mae and William Cleary. Lorraine was a red-headed beauty whose intellectual curiosity and positivity uplifted everyone around her. Her greatest joy in life was her children and extended family.
Lorraine was a devoted Catholic and found solace in her faith. Lorraine also had a passion for education and applied her teaching skills in the Chicago Public Schools. She later instilled a thirst for learning among her children, who she cherished dearly. Lorraine attended Chicago Teachers College for her higher education. Later in life she took to real estate and had a successful second career helping neighbors buy and sell homes.
Lorraine enjoyed playing golf, traveling and was an accomplished bridge player who always enjoyed the challenge of the game.
Lorraine is survived by her children, Barbara Bruck Williams, Lori LaCour, Bill Bruck, Bob Bruck, Larry Bruck, Michael Bruck and her three stepchildren, John Cornelius, Jim Cornelius and Carol Cornelius. She was preceded in death by her son, Paul Bruck; first husband, Paul Bruck; and second husband, Jac Cornelius. Lorraine was also one of three children, including William Cleary Jr and Virginia Murphy.
Lorraine will be remembered for her unwavering positivity, her love for her family, and her dedication to education. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed.
