LeRoy Fennewald
LeRoy Fennewald was born on September 11, 1937, and passed peacefully at his home in West Chicago on January 8, 2026. He was born in Chicago and raised primarily in northwestern Indiana. He was a proud alumni of Indiana University.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Glenn; and sister, June. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Maria; children, Heidi (Andrew) Kuharich, Brian (Kim), Kevin, and Davin (Jocelyn) Fennewald; grandchildren, Nathan, Asa, Emma, Noah, Lily, and Benson; Dorothy Fennewald; as well as beloved family and cherished friends.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in his honor on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, 10:30am, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Winfield, Illinois.
As LeRoy is believed to have been the oldest patient living with Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alpha-1 Foundation, https://alpha1.org/.
