Donald E. Mosack

Donald E. Mosack, of Barrington, Illinois, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026, at the age of 91. He was born to Edward and Gladys (Forbert) Mosack.

From an early age, Don was ambitious and full of life. He had a deep love for sports and animals, with a particular passion for ski jumping. He spent countless hours practicing at Chester Park in Duluth, Minnesota--dedication that led him to win several ski-jumping tournaments throughout the state.

Don graduated from Duluth Central High School and went on to earn a degree in Business and Economics from the University of Minnesota Duluth. He also completed the Cadet Officer and Pilot Training Program, becoming an aviation cadet with the United States Air Force and the Minnesota Air National Guard.

While attending UMD, Don met his soulmate, Maureen Harrington. They married following their graduation and shared 67 devoted years together.

Flying was Don's lifelong passion. In 1965, he joined United Airlines in Chicago as a pilot, embarking on a distinguished career that spanned 30 years. He retired after three decades of service, having lived his dream in the skies.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Gladys Mosack; his son, John Mosack; his sisters, Corrine Carlson and Elizabeth Pearson; and his brother-in-law, Tom Pearson.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Maureen; his children, Steve (Lisa) Mosack, Terri Mosack, Rebecca (Jeff) Hahnfeld; and daughter-in-law, Kim Mosack. He is also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Scott and Chris Mosack, Eva, Ella, and Faye Hahnfeld, and Donovan, Kailey, and Brooke Mosack.

Services will be held at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Cary, Illinois, on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at 12:15 p.m. Interment will be private.
